We start every learner's Academic Coaches journey with a non-academic Learning Skills Assessment to understand how their Foundational Processing Skills affect their academic, sport and life performance.
It also helps to determine what type of coaching is required.

The link between Academic Competencies and Foundational Processing Skills

Foundational information processing skills play a crucial role in every child's learning journey.
These are the brain skills that enable your child to learn, read, problem solve, think on their feet, do math, follow instructions, pay attention and stay focused.
These skills are the building blocks for success in academics and beyond!
By determining your child's individual Learning Skills Profile, we can ensure that their individual coaching hours or structured coaching program is tailor-made for their specific strengths, weaknesses and learning needs.
That's why your child's journey at Academic Coaches should start off with a Learning Skills Assessment to provide us with the baseline information we require to best assist them.

The assessment report is designed to easily understand your child’s current learning abilities and are normed and compared to children the same age and gender.
​HOW DOES IT WORK?
The assessment takes about 45 minutes to complete, can be done in-centre (at one of our centres in Pretoria East or Johannesburg) or easily online at home, and is available in English and Afrikaans.​
No pen and paper required!
The assessment fee also includes a detailed online/in-centre feedback consultation to explain your child's assessment results, personalized recommendations and options based on these results, and a copy of the detailed assessment report.​

WHAT OPTIONS DO YOU HAVE FOLLOWING THE ASSESSMENT?
If interested in, clients have a choice between individual coaching hours (choose as little as 2 hours or as many coaching hours as you desire), or a structured coaching program.
Coaching sessions are conveniently done online, in-centre (Pretoria East or Johannesburg) or as a combination of the two.
All coaching sessions are on a one-on-one basis with each learner.
Your individual coaching hours can be increased as required.
They can also be converted into a structured program.
Optional:
Schedule weekly or bi-weekly support coaching following your initial individual coaching hours or structured coaching program.

STEP 1: LEARNING SKILLS ASSESSMENT
Let's get the information needed to know what type of coaching you require.
The cost of an assessment is R2,443.00 per assessment/learner
The assessment fee includes your assessment, a feedback consultation and a copy of your assessment report.
And, of course, a personalised guideline on the best suitable type of coaching/way forward to address your specific needs and goals.

STEP 2: ACADEMIC COACHING and/or EXECUTIVE FUNCTION COACHING
Decide what type and how many coaching hours you'd like to schedule.
Individual Coaching Hours: R795 per hour
Minimum individual hours booked: 2 hours
Every coaching hour booked, includes a 15-minute preparation segment.

Structured Coaching Program: R795 per hour
Minimum program hours booked: 10 hours
Every coaching hour booked, includes a 15-minute preparation segment.

Optional:
Weekly/Bi-weekly Support Coaching: R795 per hour
Every coaching hour booked, includes a 15-minute preparation segment.

The assessment is suitable for learners age 7 years and older, and can be completed in English or Afrikaans.
*Assessments should preferably be completed in the morning or early afternoon when your child is at his/her best and can be scheduled over a weekend if weekday mornings are too busy.
